Emma Jane Hogbin
International speaker on the topics of (FOSS) documentation and DocBook, gender and IT and engaging ones physical community through the use of technology. Special interest in rural use of technology. Experience organizing community-focused technology conferences using local food and with energy offset credits. Several years as a community college instructor of PHP, MySQL, XHTML, ColdFusion, Dreamweaver (although she is a rabid Vim user) and standards-based Web development. Past experience also includes membership on the Education Task Force of the Web Standards Project and the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative Education and Outreach Committee. Emma currently freelances as a Drupal developer and specializes in Web sites for not-for-profit organizations as well as craft communities. As the knitter responsible for The Drupal Socks Emma is also very comfortable teaching knitting as productive alternative to using crackberries in meetings.
Emma's presentations are fun and engaging. She strives to make her topics accessible to even the most technophobic audience members. She lives on quirky side of normality and has experience writing about herself in the third person.
