Akkana Peck is a freelance software engineer and writer based in San Jose, CA, USA. She specializes in free open source software such as Linux, Mozilla Firefox and GIMP. She was a longtime Mozilla developer and has contributed to numerous other open source projects. She also writes for Linux Planet, is active in educational groups such as LinuxChix, and is the author of the book "Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional."
